Chemicals
At its Green River, Wyoming plant, Solvay Chemicals saves greenhouse gas emissions by capturing methane release during trona mining. It is the world’s first process to reclaim sodium carbonate waste, turning it into SOLVAir® S300 sodium bicarbonate which is used to treat the emissions of coal-fired power plants.

Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) resin from Solvay Specialty Polymers USA, LLC, is known for its durability, light weight, easy formability, and exceptional sterilizability. MacPherson Medical Inc., an emerging company based in Acton, Mass., has launched a novel multi-purpose surgical instrument tray that is designed to eliminate unnecessary prep time in the operating room. Made of Radel PPSU, instead of the traditional metal, the Stat-Mat® Minor surgical tray reduces instrument set-up time from as much as 10 minutes to only 10 seconds, plus it protects instruments from damage and ensures fast and accurate instrument count.
